Moss and I are going to see Ottmar Liebert tonight at Chataqua. We've played his album about 1,000 times in our house, and he's also become a very dear friend since we met at Ken Wilber's house a year or more back, and now we're even Dharma Brothers in the White Plum tradition. Can't wait to see the show tonight. We're all set up with a baby sitter, and this will be the first time I've been alone with my wife in 3 weeks or so. I hope it doesn't ruin the show when we commence the Beast With Two Backs in row 15!

Ottmar's also going to be on my next album. When my wife bought me a new guitar for X-Mas, the first song I wrote on it was about asking Genpo Roshi to be my teacher, and I instantly knew I wanted to record it with Ottmar.

In the pulsing
of a blue stream
till the ache led
to a red pool
where the vein broke
and a lie bled
love
Now, your lips pursed
in the orchard
under moonlight
with an arm stretched
for the branch
with a ripe white
plum
