Oh boy. Home town.
Minneapolis.
Where I lost my virginity and discovered my vagrancy. Where I stumbled upon a career as an Unknown on the periphery of anonymity. At the prospect of returning, I'm flooded with memories of idyllic walks around Lake Harriet, skating excursions over frozen ponds, and near-death plunges under thawing ice. That wonderful world where the weather tried to kill me and the neighbors tried to Save me. Born Lutheran, re-born Buddhist, I'm hardly Minnesota's favorite son. But I favor its Sons and Daughters above any in the land. I miss their pallid countenance, the friendly grip of their frigid digits around my hands, my cheeks... my balls.
Lived in the warehouse district, downtown across form PIzza Luce, in Bryn Mawr, on Lake Harriet, Seven Corners, I dare say I sullied its best and polished its worst. I have that middling effect on localities high and low.
And I couldn't be happier to be returning. The Bryant Lake Theater. So many of my best memories of living in Minnesota are sourced on that one block, that very building. Many are not appropriate to share, but I will. At the show. Join me!
Also, I'm playing Duluth the next night! I will arrive on a Taconite Ship in the Harbor, can someone give me a ride to the gig from the lift bridge?
